CBG vs CBN – The Small but Mighty Cannabinoids 

By now, many of us have become familiar with the major cannabinoids, THC, and CBD. However, there are two minor cannabinoids that we believe are worth getting to know: Cannabigerol (CBG)  and Cannabinol (CBN).

CBG is a much lesser-known cannabinoid that is present in small amounts in most cannabis strains. CBG reacts to the cannabinoid receptors and acts as a buffer to the psychoactive effects of THC. CBG helps to ease feelings of paranoia and anxiety that can sometimes be a side effect of THC.

According to Cresco Labs, CBG has been found to have some medical benefits. For example, CBG can help fight off inflammation, pain, and nausea. The cannabinoid can even work to slow the proliferation of cancer cells! Additional research suggests that CBG can significantly reduce intraocular eye pressure caused by glaucoma.

CBG vs CBN for Pain Relief

For those who may be looking to use CBD or Delta-8 to help with pain relief, strains that contain high amounts of CBG may be more effective.

CBN, another lesser-known mildly psychoactive cannabinoid can be found in older and aged cannabis. CBN is differentiated from most cannabinoids due to it not being constructed from the “mother cannabinoid,” CBG. CBN is a byproduct from the aging process.

Research has found CBN to be a great sleep aid as its effects can be quite sedating. Other research according to Cresco Labs has found that CBN may also help to regulate the immune system and works to relieve the pain and inflammation caused by several conditions such as arthritis and Crohn’s disease.

Research also suggests that CBN may help reduce seizures in epilepsy patients.
